I have had quite an industrious morning so far, 2 loads of washing done & blown dry in the garden. A pile of ironing, some photos done & my newly laundered items posted to ebay. Here are a few pics of some pretty vintage linens I have listed today.
This is such a flattering shape! This is an original vintage 1940s halterneck apron, I would love to keep it but selling on ebay is how I earn a living so I have to be tough & let lovely things like this go on to new homes. It will make someone happy & its getting a new lease of life. This old girls been around a long time & is in fantastic condition for its age.
This is a hand embroidered tea towel that came from the same home. It is also in good condition but has been well used. Don't you get a picture of the woman who owned these things in your mind ?
I imagine someone rather feminine who liked flowers & was a tidy homemaker.
This is a Babycham & Cherapear 1970s Tea Towel. I've never heard of Cherapear before, I'm guessing it was something that didn't catch on ?
I like the Babycham image but not fond of the Cherapear- lots of people collect Babycham memorabilia so hopefully it will sell.
This is a wonderful book about the history of the W.I.
The picture on the front was taken in the 1940s & shows 4 women from Eastgate W.I. in Weardale making their way to the village hall for a W.I. meeting. The lady on the left is carrying a pail of water to make the tea.
This is the same scene taken in 1989 with the surviving women from the 1st photo making their way to a meeting. This was a fascinating read & not what I expected - I will be putting this on ebay too shortly, time to let someone else have a read !
And, talking of the W.I., I am selling this hardback book of 650 Favourite W.I. Recipes on Ebay now.
As you can see from the contents list it covers everything from Starters to Preserves & Drinks. It's in very good condition & looks like new.
